Beginnings are…fun!
Each December, as the year begins to close, I tend to spend Dead Week in less reflection and more preparation. Preparation for all the things that, by now, I have told myself I will accomplish in the new year.
This is the fun part! To dream, to start, to dare to be something fresh and unique. When many have thoughts of weight loss plans, I have visions of what my life could be like “if only”.
But this time is different. NO, REALLY, it is! This time I feel like I have a fresh perspective from God on what he wants me to spend the year building, so that’s what I have been praying over and researching for a few months now. If you’re close to me, and many reading this inaugural draft are, you have no doubt been inundated by a billion questions about my unique value to this world. Maybe a mid-life crisis, but I like to see it as the time to begin with the ending in mind.
Why this? Why now?
While, as an enneagram four, I love to hear all the ways that I am unique from the people I love and trust the most, these probing questions and late-night chats were not merely to fill my ego, but rather get a clear, unbiased look into what I offer this world. I believe there comes a time in every person’s life where they ask themselves just what they are contributing to this world. Are we merely consumers of products and others better ideas? Or do we have a unique voice?
I believe the latter is true and, whether it comes early or late in life, when you get a clear perspective on this daunting topic you should jump in with both feet. So that’s why now.
So what?
In my “research,” I found that I tend to bring one of five different elements to the table that I would like to spend the rest of my life sharing with other people; other leaders; other creatives; other builders.
Creativity.
The thing that gets me out of bed each morning is that I get to help other people unlock their greatest creative potential. After almost 20 years as a professional creative, I have gleaned some of the best practices in taking ideas into creation. I want to help you and your team be the most creative they can be with a few guiding tools and a fresh perspective on what can often feel like a daunting task.
Culture.
The longer I have served on a team, much less in ministry, the more I realize how important a strong, healthy culture is. Your product can be incredible, even life-changing, but without a healthy team culture, no one will ever know it. I have seen great teams succeed when others thought it was not possible, and mega-teams fail because they put the health of the team second to the health of the bottom line. I want to help you and your team experience your business like never before. I want to help you consistently unlock the door that holds all of your potential.
Mental Health.
If you’ve heard me speak more than once, you’ve more than likely heard me speak, rather passionately, on the subject of mental health. Some preach physical health, emotional health, spiritual health, or financial health. All of these are extremely important and vital to success in life, but my story seems to step back consistently into probably the most hidden of these battles: mental health. I want to share my journey with you and encourage you to share yours. In doing so, you will begin a pathway to experience God and life like never before.
Enneagram.
A few years ago, during a rocky transition, I discovered the enneagram and, specifically, how God made me in his unique image through this 9-part personality profile. The Enneagram has changed my perspective of myself and others, and, thus, has changed my life. I want to walk you through this journey and have it change yours too.
Process.
I enjoy the process WAY more than the product. I love to see the lightbulb go off in the room and the spark in others’ eyes when they experience a breakthrough moment. I want to help others do that, to feel that, every day. Because we should never settle for just good enough. We can do better, and I think I can help you get there.
Now What?
Now I’m going to take some time to get this thing right. These same friends and mentors I pestered over the last few months will be hearing more from me in the coming months. I want to unroll this thing the right way, for good. Will you help me?
