Am I Creative?

This is the million-dollar question. Everyone wants to know if they are actually creative or not. To which end, I would argue, we first have to define what creativity is.

Creativity, simply put, is problem-solving. Nothing more, nothing less.

Now, there is artistry, that’s different. But creativity, at its core, is simply finding a solution to a problem. You want to sell more products. How do you do that? Enter creativity. You need to repair a vehicle, and you want to do it yourself. Enter creativity.

Whether it’s a large-scale marketing effort or a homeschool mom trying to figure out how to get their child to understand fractions, it’s all creative.

Artistry, however, is where creativity meets beauty.

Painters, designers, songwriters, and filmmakers are the artists. Let’s not mistake creativity for something that it’s not.
