Find Your Creative Circles
There are a few reasons why creative people are often seen in public packs. Creatives need a few key ingredients that this type of community provides.
You’re not alone. As creatives, we can be the most critical, self-absorbed individuals which causes eventual loneliness, producing anxiety and we cannot create our best work when anxious. It’s important for us to know we’re not alone in this vicious cycle. We need to surround ourselves with other creatives who can lift us up out of this pit of despair. No one understands creative people like other creative people.
Inspiration. Creativity breeds more creativity. It’s common for creatives to produce greater work when they surround themselves with others doing the same. It’s inspiring. We pick up new tools, tricks, and viewpoints that we otherwise never would find on our own.
Feedback. As much as creatives claim to hate feedback, they need it, desperately. It’s the iron-sharpens-iron mentality that takes us from good to great. Be bold and ask for feedback in your creative circle to get the most out of it.
One creative circle I’ve found fuel in is CreativeMornings. There are chapters all over the world so check them out and get to a free monthly gathering.
Find your creative circles this week. You already know where "the creative people” hang out. So go there. Insert yourself into that community. You’ll find that they need you as much as you need them.
